Vertex Rotate Pivot

Rotate selected vertices around the active vertex (last selected) with axis overrides.

What is it?

Rotates any number of selected vertices around the active vertex (pivot). By default, rotation happens around the camera view axis; you can override to X/Y/Z. Shift enables fine movement. Cancel restores original positions.

Access and Shortcuts

  • Pie Menu: Edit Mode → Vertex Rotate Pivot
  • Operator: damtools.vertex_rotate_pivot
  • Modal keys:
  • Mouse X/Y → Adjust angle
  • X/Y/Z → Lock axis
  • C → Camera-view axis (default)
  • Shift → Fine movement
  • Enter/Space/Left Click → Confirm
  • ESC/Right Click → Cancel (restore original coordinates)

Workflow

  1. In Edit Mode, select 2+ vertices. The last selected is the pivot.
  2. Run Vertex Rotate Pivot.
  3. Move the mouse to rotate; press X/Y/Z to constrain, C for camera axis.
  4. Shift for fine angle adjustments. Confirm or cancel.

Suggested GIF: selection → rotation with axis toggles → confirm.

Parameters

  • Angle (implicit): controlled by mouse movement; Shift reduces sensitivity.
  • Axis: Camera (default) or X/Y/Z via hotkeys.

Tips

  • For precise pivots, ensure the last selected vertex is correct before invoking.
  • Combine with snapping overlays or orthographic views for accuracy.

Known Limitations

  • Operates in Edit Mode on vertex selections only.
  • Extreme viewport perspectives can make camera-axis rotation feel non-intuitive; use X/Y/Z.
