Installation Guide

Get DAMTools up and running in your Blender installation quickly and easily.

Requirements

  • Blender: 4.0 or newer
  • Operating System: Windows, macOS, or Linux
  • Python: Built-in with Blender (no additional installation required)

Installation Method

Direct Installation

  1. Download DAMTools from SuperhiveMarket
  2. Visit the page

  3. Download the latest damtools.zip file

  4. Install in Blender

  5. Open Blender
  6. Go to Edit → Preferences → Add-ons
  7. Click Install... button
  8. Navigate to your downloaded damtools.zip

  9. Select the file and click Install Add-on

  10. Enable the Add-on

  11. Search for "DAMTools" in the add-ons list
  12. Check the checkbox to enable it
  13. Click Save Preferences

Verification

After installation, verify DAMTools is working correctly:

  1. Check the Pie Menu
  2. In the 3D Viewport, press the pie menu hotkey (default: varies by setup)

  3. You should see the DAMTools pie menu

  4. Test a Tool

  5. Try running damPrimitives from the pie menu

  6. The tool should launch and be interactive

  7. Check Console

  8. Open Window → Toggle System Console
  9. Look for any DAMTools-related errors

Configuration

Setting Up the Pie Menu Hotkey

  1. Go to Edit → Preferences → Keymap
  2. Search for "DAMTools"
  3. Set your preferred hotkey for the main pie menu
  4. Common choices: Shift + Q, Alt + Q, or Ctrl + Shift + A

Icon Display

DAMTools includes custom icons for better visual recognition:

  • Icons are automatically loaded when the addon is enabled
  • If icons don't appear, restart Blender
  • Check the console for any icon loading errors

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Add-on Not Appearing

  • Ensure you downloaded the correct version for your Blender
  • Check that the ZIP file extracted correctly
  • Restart Blender after installation

Import Errors

  • Update to the latest Blender version
  • Check the console for specific error messages
  • Ensure no file paths contain special characters

Tools Not Working

  • Verify you're in the correct mode (Object/Edit)
  • Check object selection requirements
  • Review tool-specific documentation
